Both the Disc Golf Pro Tour and the Professional Disc Golf Association have appealed to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, requesting an emergency stay (i.e., pause) from yesterday’s order that allows Natalie Ryan to play at the OTB Open, which teed off earlier today.
The DGPT’s briefs requesting an emergency stay focused on jurisdictional issues (discussed further here), while the PDGA’s briefs defended their eligibility policy. As of writing, court filings indicate that Ryan’s legal team has until 12pm and 1pm Pacific Time, respectively, to respond. It is currently unknown whether the Ninth Circuit will issue any emergency or expedited ruling today, or over the weekend, and – if they did – how that would impact events on the ground at OTB. Both the DGPT and PDGA have requested that the Ninth Circuit make a ruling by 5 PM Pacific time on Friday.
