It wasn’t particularly sharp from the leaders during round two at the Portland Open, but Paige Pierce did enough on moving day to stay in first.

While the Blue Lake course was playing two strokes easier Sunday for the field, no player on the lead card recorded a score under par. Pierce had the best total of the top four, an even par 66, and remains in front at 5-under par 127 total. She found OB six times and two-putted on four holes, but rallied to nab a 50-foot birdie on the elevated hole 18 to keep a two stroke advantage over second place Catrina Allen.

After tying Pierce for the most birdies in round one, Allen couldn’t find the basket. She was only 1-for-4 from Circle 1X, and a triple bogey on hole 11 wiped out her only under par tallies. A 2-over par 68 keeps Allen in second place at 3-under par 129 total.

Madison Walker threw the hot round of the day, a 4-under par 62, to move into a tie for third at even par 132 total. Even with two-putting three times, including an opening hole bogey, Walker came into the clubhouse with the fewest scores over par and a tie for most birdies at six. She immediately hit a C2 birdie after the early bogey, and played clean golf for the final 14 holes.

In the tie for third with Walker is Rebecca Cox, who bookended a clean round with double-bogeys on holes 1 and 17. She strung together four consecutive birdies on the front nine and recovered from her single OB throw with a C2 par save on the par 5 hole 18.
