For
the
fourth
year
in
a
row,
the
Disc
Golf
Pro
Tour
Championship
purse
will
set
a
record
for
the
largest-ever
prize
pool
in
disc
golf
history.
The
DGPT
announced
that
the
purse
for
the
2023
event
will
be
$322,000,
breaking
its
own
record
of
$302,000
from
2022.
$40,000
will
be
awarded
to
both
the
MPO
and
FPO
winners.
The
$40,000
prizes
will
be
the
biggest
individual
disc
golf
payouts,
also
breaking
last
year’s
record
of
$35,000.
The
DGPT
cited
the
support
of
the
event’s
title
sponsor,
Barbasol,
as
a
driver
for
the
increased
purse
this
season.
“Breaking
new
ground
with
this
record-setting
purse
is
a
testament
to
the
rapid
growth
and
potential
of
professional
disc
golf,”
said
DGPT
CEO
Jeff
Spring
in
a
statement.
“With
the
unwavering
support
of
all
of
our
partners,
we’re
not
just
elevating
the
game
for
elite
players,
but
also
setting
the
stage
for
the
future
of
the
sport.”
The
magnitude
of
purse
increases
has
gotten
smaller
since
the
sport’s
explosion
during
the
COVID-19
pandemic.
The
purse
jumped
nearly
$120,000
in
2021,
then
$52,000
in
2022.
It
will
increase
$20,000
this
year.
